Rick Davis Professional Biography
Rick Davis is Principal Advisor for DigitalRisk Advisor and
the creator of the DigitalRisk ScoreCard. He
is a recognized pioneer in the e-business risk management industry, and is
publicly acknowledged for creating the world's first insurability standard for
assessing and underwriting e-business privacy, security and operational risk (Best’s
Review, December 1998, January 1999; Black Enterprise, October 1999).
Since
graduating from Stanford University in 1991, Rick has developed asset protection
strategies for mission-critical e-business environments around the world. He has
been an executive manager in the Electronic Commerce / Internet / Information
Security industry his entire career and has specialized in creating
inter-disciplinary e-business risk management, privacy and corporate governance
solutions (combining information security, physical security, traditional risk
management and insurance) for nearly five years.
As a
former founder of an Atlanta-based risk management firm, Rick was responsible
for creating the insurance industry's first risk assessment, loss control,
privacy and information security consulting practice focused exclusively on
protecting against Internet and electronic risks.
He participated in creating the world’s first insurance suite of
coverages for PKI, ASPs, VPNs and electronic commerce web sites.
As well, Rick managed the firm's strategic marketing, corporate
development and training initiatives.
Since leaving the Atlanta firm in January 2000, Rick has
consistently demonstrated his expertise by serving as strategic advisor to
leaders in the insurance, financial services and information security
industries. Rick’s strategic
advisor and consulting capacity has lead him to participate in several
world-class digital risk initiatives involving a wide range of firms including Insurance
Carriers & Reinsurers, Fortune 1000 Enterprises, Financial Institutions,
Information Security Vendors, Application Service Providers, and
Telecommunications Providers.
Rick is a noted public speaker and an effective e-business risk
management evangelist. Among other venues, he has been a featured speaker at
CERIAS / Purdue University, EC World, AM Best Information Technology Conference.
In addition to being the inaugural E-Business Risk Management Expert on
the world’s #1 e-business support portal, Rick has been frequently quoted in
the media and published as an industry expert on e-business risk management and
hacker insurance issues.
Rick
has a BA in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University. He is a member of
the Computer Security Institute (CSI), a certified International Computer
Security Association (ICSA) professional as well as a formerly licensed excess
& surplus insurance professional.
Rick is member of the World Future Society and an active member of
Georgia Electronic Commerce Association (GECA) working groups for eHealth and
Information Security.
In 1999, Best's Review named Rick as one of 25 "People to
Watch" in the insurance industry.
